The Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes was chartered as one of 7,700 clubs in 80 countries in 1998. Our motto is “Serving the Children of the World”.
The idea of forming a Kiwanis club with a Caribbean connection is attributed to 2001 – 2002 Distinguished President Anthony D’Oyley and Leroy Gordon, Distinguished President of the Kiwanis Club of Eastern Kingston and Port Royal, Jamaica. This idea eventually led to a formation meeting in August 1998, attended by eight prospective members. This core group, along with other interested potential members, met weekly, benefiting from the guidance of the late Art Coachman and John Bonvillian, both Past Lt. Governors of Kiwanis Division 23. By September 29, 1998, there were 26 potential members signed up, enabling us to obtain our charter from Kiwanis International.

Kiwanis Service
Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families and projects. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.
Our Kiwanis club focuses on changing the world by serving children, one child in our community at a time. To reach more people and have a greater service impact on their communities, many clubs sponsor a Kiwanis family club — K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; Circle K clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.
